This is a busy intersection in Copenhagen. It has recently undergone a re-think, a re-working and a re-structuring. After all that, it was time to repaint the bike lanes. The Copenhagen Blue lanes that remind motorists, and cyclists, that they are crossing an intersection. With the amount of bike lanes we have, it’s rather routine. I love the fact that this painting of the bike lane took place in rush hour for both cars and bikes. They had to shut off two lanes of traffic and redirect the bikes. On this stretch there are maybe 50,000 cars a day and 25,000 bikes. But hey, the lanes need to be painted.
There were two city workers doing the job. One doing the painting and another to make sure nobody intruded on the new paint. All very casual, despite the traffic rush. All very routine.
